Hey!
Found this great clean eating snack at Cafe Nero today….. Perfect if you get stuck for a little snack when you’re out, came in other flavours too!
I don’t believe in crazy detox’s and cleanses as the human body is perfectly capable of doing this itself, especially when being fed with the right kind of nutrition.
I always see these miracle cleanses advertised which guarantee you a big weight loss in days and claim to ‘clean out’ your whole system. It’s mostly, if not all, water weight you’ll be losing and will put it straight back on when the magic drink is over and you start to eat normally again, hardly a long term solution to getting healthy, right?
When these type of products claim to ‘clean’ your system out, more often than not it’s usually more like violently flushing your system meaning you’ll have a pretty unpleasant few days spent on the toilet! Many of these drinks include ingredients with a strong laxative effect and this ends up flushing out all the good bacteria and enzymes throughtout your digestive system, not to mention seriously messing with your natural rhythm which could take weeks to get back!
The good news is, you can save yourself all these side effect and a whole load of money by making up some natural drinks aimed at cleansing your system and helping speed up your weight loss goals.
Below are the recipes for three of my ritual drinks, when I feel like a mini detox I take all three throughout the day for a week but they are great for whenever so try and get at least one a day in!
Lemon + Ginger Booster -
- Cup of warm water
- Squeeze in half a lemon
- Half a teaspoon of powdered ginger OR finely grate in in raw root ginger
- Teaspoon of agave nectar, if you have some! (organic, no added sugar honey is a good alternative)
- Cup of warm water
- 2 Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar – (the one I buy here in the UK from the supermarket is usually always just called cider vinegar)
- 1 Tsp. Honey
- Half Tsp. Powdered ginger
- Pinch of cinnamon powder for added sweet taste if desired!
- 250ml tomato or vegetable juice
- Half Tsp. Cayanne pepper
- Half Tsp. Powdered ginger
- Half Tsp. Tumeric
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper
