Let’s get deep….

Hey everyone!

SO I wanted to do a short and sweet reflective post tonight. Aside from being crazy about health and fitness I do obviously lead a normal life too filled with up’s and down’s, like everyone. I like to be honest on my blog but I don’t see it as a place to emotionally unload! However if I feel I’ve learnt a lesson from something, that I want to share!

Today I had a big realization, that I need to stop viewing life in such small timescale slots and as more of a continually progressing journey. I often, like many of us, put too much pressure on things being perfect and exactly how I want them as quick as possible. Not only is this usually completely unrealistic but when I think about, it if my life really was perfect and exactly how I want it by the time I’m 20, how boring would that be?!

Life and yourself aren’t meant to be perfect, everyone has weaknesses, flaws, lessons to learn and all we can really do is our best. If I know deep down that I’m giving it everything I’ve got, to get my life to where I want it then that is good enough. You’re always going to face bad times and so on but the true result of what effect that has on your life as a whole, is down to you. Learn from mistakes, hard times and devastation, you will become a better person for it and even be able to help and empathize with others.

I also thought today how rarely anything is set in stone. If you choose something now like a career, diet, relationship, place to live, anything, you can’t ever know if that’s how it will be in years time. Again, all you can do with life is make the best decisions for yourself at the time and see where they take you. It may not always end up being the best decision but you won’t know unless you try and you can always change your mind on things, so don’t take anything too seriously.

Life's probably not going to turn out how you planned it at 18 but who's to say that will be a bad thing in the end...

So really I’m writing this to remind myself to keep working towards my goals and I know one day I will achieve everything I’ve set out to do and more. However never stop enjoying life in the present moment while working towards your dreams, the days you are living through now are no less important than the ones you are working towards creating, so enjoy every second.

Let me know your thoughts on life, your future and dreams below!

Gym Time! Why it’s always best to not over think it and just DO IT!

Hello everyone!

I felt the need to write an entire post on going to the gym after such a good workout last night, you know the kind where you just completely surprise yourself and walk out feeling like a superhero?! Well it was one of those times!

I have to admit I’m one of those annoying people who is always up for a workout and never gets bored of it BUT yesterday to my surprise I honestly couldn’t think of anything worse than getting my gym clothes on and leaving the house. I kept pushing the time to go later and later, eventually making the move to go after telling myself I only had to do half my normal workout.

After pounding the treadmill for ten minutes, sweating it out to a few J Cole songs (pretending I’m gangster) I had soon got my motivation back! Half a workout you say? That’s not me I thought! Before I knew it I had done one of the best workouts I’ve had in a long time.

The punch line of this is in the time you’ve debated to go to the gym, you could have finished your workout. Why not just go and do your best, if you still get there and can only manage half your routine then take a ‘glass half full’ attitude and be proud knowing you’ve done your best. Who knows, you may get to the gym and find a hidden burst of motivation (like I did) and have the best workout EVER…. but if all you do is sit thinking about your workout, you’ll never know!

Lookin' Goooood ;)

Whatever your workout is today, no matter how unmotivated you are, don’t even think about any of it. Just get up, get ready and give 100% to whatever you to do!

Finding your motivation

Hello!

I’ve had a pretty quiet day today and it got me in a thinking/reflective type of mood! Sometimes we can all get so carried away with our day to day routines that it’s easy to forget to take the time to stop and actually reflect on life, for example what you’re thankful for, what things you’d like to change and so on. I was thinking about the different choices I have made over the past years and where they’ve taken me. When I look back at my life, I can see how going through the experiences I’ve been through (both good and bad), have all led me to where and who I am today and now down a path  I really feel is where I’m meant to be.

I big part of ensuring you stay on track with your dreams and goals in life, is staying motivated. By keeping a positive push behind you mentally, you can brush off negative emotions and thoughts more easily and not let yourself be unmotivated to achieve by others.

With so many inspiring websites, blogs, and books out there to read through I’ve not only found the motivation to pursue my own dreams but been inspired to create and imagine goals I hadn’t even first thought of! Allow yourself to to imagine what you and your life could become and you will soon find you can be well on your way to making those dreams a reality.

Below is a few easy ways I use to motivate myself everyday!

  • Looking at my dream board – I made my dream board using Picasa and refresh it every month to keep it up to date with whats currently inspiring me. It’s such a great thing to have pinned up on your wall or set as your desktop to look at when you need motivation. I look at mine every morning before starting the day, it gets me focused and makes me remember what I’m working for. Here’s my current dream board!….
  • Follow and learn from people who inspire you- I’m Jillian Michaels BIGGEST FAN! It may sound stupid but if you look up to someone following their twitter, facebook, watching their interviews can sometimes give you something to aspire to. When I’m low on motivation for a workout, I’ll put a Jillian Michaels DVD on and be instantly reminded why I want to workout and why I love it so much. Find out who inspires you and do the same!
  • Build your self confidence – This isn’t about being a shy or a loud person but everyone has insecurities and self doubt inside. These can be massive motivation killers as when your stop believing in yourself and feeling worthy of accomplishing your dreams, you’ll make excuses for failure and allow negative emotions to take over. Doing a little something each day to build your self confidence can be all it takes to stay positive, for example dressing well and good postures makes me feel instantly better about myself than if I’m slouching around in joggers.
  • Working out! – This is my all time favourite way to stay motivated, nothing puts me in a better mood than when I finish a crazy workout! It doesn’t really matter what it is whether I do an hours pilates, go jogging or a full on session at the gym, it never fails to boost my mood and focus my mind.I love that knowing that matter what mood I’m in can be turned around, just a workout away.
Find out what motivates you and how you can incorporate this is to your every day life so you’re always making an effort to stay motivated and achieve your goals.
What are your top ways to get motivated?!
